DRIVING IN BAJA

Loreto is approximately 700 miles south of the border. Residents and visitors have been making the drive down the Baja peninsula for many years. In years past, the trip could be treacherous with poorly maintained and unpaved roads. Today, the two most popular routes are Highway 1 through Tijuana and Ensenada and Highway 5 from Mexicali.
